In presence of over 70 members from various Italian regions, on November 9th – 11th 2016 in Naples the General Assembly of the “Anna Lindh Foundation Italian Network” (ALF) to which OpenMed Association adheres through the Anna Lindh Federation Italy (FAL) took place. The Meeting was attended by many actors coming from various backgrounds who have come together to create synergies and promote actions in favor of dialogue and co-existence among different cultures to address common challenges such as conflicts, extremism, social impact of the refugee crisis, climate change and youth unemployment, aimed not only at “BEING TOGETHER” but also at acting, therefore, at “PERFORMING TOGETHER”.
Thanks to the possible destination of residual resources available under “Step 7”, the same meeting held in Naples could represent also the start of a new and additional role for OpenMed Association, which, in case of a positive response from the ALF Secretariat, would affirm itself as entity in charge of the implementation of a training day addressed to the network members concerning European programs and other upcoming funding opportunities in the framework of 2014-2020 programming period. This need results in fact in line with indications emerged within the fifteenth meeting of the Anna Lindh Heads of National Networks, who found this kind of training activities fundamental and indispensable, given the lack of resources within the same Anna Lindh Foundation. More in details, given its expertise in the design and management of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation projects (www.open-med.eu/projects) and in the organization of international training events on the same subject (www.euromedsummerschool.eu), OpenMed Association would execute the above described activities to support the organization and management of the training day, to participate in launching events and programs concerning European calls of interest (e.g. ENI CBC Med, URBAN INNOVATIVE ACTIONS etc.) and to assess project proposals referred to Euro-Mediterranean financing programs calls for the subsequent technical, administrative and financial assistance. Moreover, in case the proposal will be approved, considering the location of Association’s headquarters in Cagliari, the same shall act with the role of facilitator regarding contacts and relations to be held with the ENI CBC Med Program Joint Managing Authorithy.
